Airsoft Warrior 2016 Resolutions | AirsoftWarrior.net

After 2 years of writing on AirsoftWarrior.net, producing videos for the Airsoft Warrior YouTube Channel, and coming up with new ideas to grow the airsoft community and help airsofters, I’m happy to say that Airsoft Warrior still has some new and exciting things to offer airsofters as we go into 2016!  Here are some of the new and enhanced offerings I hope to bring to you guys in Airsoft Warrior’s 3rd year!

A More Interactive Experience

What makes Airsoft Warrior grow and be able to provide better content is the community (aka airsofters like you!).  In 2016, expect to see more questions being asked in the posts, comments, and social media for you guys to provide impute on.  I’m always happy to hear new ideas for posts, social media, and videos.  Let me know what upcoming events are happening in your local community so I can share them for other airsofters to see!  Also, be sure to share your thoughts on airsoft news items or other airsoft websites!  When you interact, you make this blog and airsoft better!

Help Create a New View of Airsoft

Airsoft has done so much for me.  I’ve made new friends, gained new skills, and enjoyed the experiences I wouldn’t have had with any other sport.  But even with all the good qualities of airsoft, it’s coming under its heaviest attack yet.  Almost everyday we hear about new criminal incidents involving airsoft, putting our sport in a bad light and convincing legislators and citizens that airsoft is little more than a dangerous game that should be banned.  I hope to use the Airsoft Warrior resources in 2016 and beyond, to provide an encouraging and strong platform for airsofters to share the real story of airsoft.  With your help, we can change the way airsoft is perceived by the general populace!

More Airsoft Warrior Media

And last, but not least, get ready for more videos coming to the YouTube channel!  Better and more frequent Tac Shack, reviews, gameplay, and other airsoft related videos are planned to be released in 2016!  If the community shows interest, live chats with TAW and more “podcast like” videos may be considered and created!  Just let me know what type of media would be the most helpful to you so I can make it a reality!

We had a great year in 2015 (we doubled AirsoftWarrior.net page views over 2014 for starters!).  Let’s make 2016 twice as awesome!

See you on the field,

– TAW

Airsoft Tulsa: Montage of BOSS!

Share

Airsoft Tulsa: Montage of BOSS! | AirsoftWarrior.net

Here’s a quick montage video for you guys from my first visit to Airsoft Tulsa in 2016!  I had a great time getting out on the field with a bunch of great players!  Be sure to let me know what you think of the video in the comments!

And, because even a montage video can include some tactics 😉 ……

Numbers Change The Field:

The increased number of players (40) change the way the battlefield could be navigated and how positions could be used.  It also causes “traffic jams” to occur in-game.  There were several times I had to stop for a second and think about where I could best support my team.  Taking the time to spread out from the rest of your teammates during a game so you have more shooting opportunities while providing your team with a stronger front.

Rush Things Along:

The first clip is from a “Conquest” round where our team rushed to the flag and secured it before the enemy team had a chance to react.  You’ll notice that several of my team members were moving up at the same time to give a better chance of securing the flag (which consequently resulted in me running into one of them! 🙂 ).  This constant “wave” of operators, combined with a powerful rush of players early in the game, is a great tactic for securing a flag and allows your team to defend for the remainder of the game (which can be a lot easier than attacking most of the time).

Get Some “Moving” Cover:

In one of the clips, I communicate with my teammate to have him provide covering fire while I rushed the flag.  Try to get some covering fire whenever you move from one position to another at the front lines.  Also, listen to your teammates and wait till they’re ready before you move.  Often times, they have a better idea of what you’re going into.  It doesn’t help to rush things along just to get lit up the minute you step out of cover!

Tac Shack: TAW’s Tan Head Loadout

Tac Shack: TAW's Tan Head Loadout | AirsoftWarrior.net

(affiliate links included)

In this Tac Shack video, I’ll show you guys how I set up my tan head loadout for games.  This is a great set up that finds a nice balance between comfort and function.  Hopefully this video gives you some ideas for your own head loadout!

Gear Used for Tan Head Loadout:

(Note: All prices are approximate and subject to change.)

Condor Multi Wrap (Tan)– $9
Comfortable, light, moisture wicking, and still protects you from BBs going down your ear canal!  What more could you ask for $9!

Gen 1 Striker Lower Metal Mesh Mask– $10
Great mesh mask for airsofters that like to be able to aim down their sights!  Easy to modify to fit a variaty of googles and full seal shooting glasses.  For a modification tutorial, go HERE.

Lancer Tactical Deluxe Ventalation Goggles (with 3 lens set)– $18
Great googles for the money.  The three lenses make it easy to adapt the googles to work well in almost any environment or weather conditions.  They do have a tendency to fog, so be sure to get a Cyclone Mike!

Bungee Modification- FREE!
This has been one of the best modifications I’ve made to my head loadout! Easy to get on and off at a game and also increases the comfort of the head loadout!

Metal NVG Mount (for mounting my SJ4000 action camera)- $20
An NVG mount is the easiest way I’ve found to mount and stabilize an action camera for filming airsoft games.  Nothings worse than super shaking and bouncy airsoft footage, so be sure to get one if you can use it with your helmet!

Cyclone Mike (from ActionFans)– $40
One of the best defogging systems on the market in my opinion.  Long battery life, easy to set up, and very user friendly! You can see my full review of the Cyclone Mike, HERE.

6400 mAh Easy Acc Battery Pack– $13
Super cheap way to fuel your action camera for HOURS at a game!  Fits nice on a helmet and has LED indicator lights for checking the battery level on the fly!

Lancer Tactical PJ F.A.S.T. Helmet (Navy Seal Tan)– $65
This helmet may seem a bit overpriced when compared to the $35, basic helmets from Lancer Tactical, but this helmet really is a step up in comfort and functionality when you’re on the field.  The adjustment band and padding on the inside make it easy to fit to your head and will accommodate even a monster noggin! 🙂

Let me know what gear you use for your head loadout in the comments!

Airsoft Discoveries: December 2015

Airsoft Discoveries: December 2015 | AirsoftWarrior.net
(affiliate links included)

This is The Airsoft Warrior’s “Airsoft Discoveries”, where I write up a post about airsoft videos, news, tips, and much more I’ve discovered during the month to help you discover new things!  Here’s what I found this past December!

Gear:

Element Comtac II Style Headset – These headsets are a working replica of the real Comtac II headsets that retail for over $600!  They have built-in noise canceling, you can buy the adapter to attach them to FAST Helmets, and they work with various Push To Talk (PTT) units to meet your tactical communication needs.  If you want to avoid the hassle of finding a suitable PTT unit for them, they’re often offered in a packaged deal.  HERE is the packaged deal for Motorola 1 pin radios.  If you want more information on this headset, I found THIS video review to be helpful.

Guns:

Elite Force Race Gun–  This pistol from Elite Force is designed for competition shooting.  Spring assist magazine ejection for faster reloading, enhanced trigger, half slide for less recoil, and swappable, adjustable rear sights (including a fiber optic one) make this an awesome and accurate airsoft pistol for the airsofter who demands accuracy and function from their sidearms.  The current price is $129.99 at the Airsoft ‘R Us Tactical online store, which is plenty reasonable for a tuned up pistol.

MilSim:

B.O.S.S. (Ballistic Ordinance Sound System)–  This unit developed by B.L. Tech looks like an M203 grenade launcher.  It turns your airsoft gun into a much more realistic weapon by creating a gunshot-like sound using propane gas.  A microchip regulates the B.O.S.S. system to match your specific weapon’s rate of fire (and can also be adjusted manually).  The extra immersion factor of this system will appeal especially to MilSim players or airsofters who want to use their airsoft guns for training purposes.  Proposed price is $600, so start saving!  Here’s a video from Spartan117GW to give you a taste of what this thing can do!

Airsoft Tulsa Indoor: That’s The Way The Flag Goes!

Share

Airsoft Tulsa: That's the Way the Flag Goes! | AirsoftWarrior.net
(affiliate links included)

Nothing like fumbling around trying to figure out how to run a flag up a pulley while under enemy fire! 😛  Domination is one of my favorite scenarios because it relies on aggressive action and tactical defense to win.  I had a great time visiting the field with my teammate, Chief, from the Front And Center Airsoft Team (You can visit his YouTube channel HERE).

I hope you enjoy the gameplay.  If you have any questions, be sure to leave a comment!

Tactics:

Tactical Spacing:
Spacing out from your teammates is an important tactic while playing in CQB environments.  Often times, you’ll feel like you want to stick as close as possible to your teammates during a game.  Try to resist that tendency and spread out 10-15 feet from them.  This will provide your team with better protection, give you more firing angles to use, and prevent enemy operators with grenades from taking out multiple players.

Use the Path of Most Protection:
You’ll notice at 3:38 that an enemy player attempts to switch the flag to his team’s color.  To get there, he has to cover a relatively large area of the field while completely exposed to our firepower.  Try to always use a path that will provide you the most protection.  Also, coordinate with your team and have them provide covering fire while you move.

Control Your Stress
Even in a game where you have unlimited respawns, there is still a level of stress during a game.  This will cause “interesting” mistakes to occur (like forgetting how to run a flag up a string).  Knowing that stress is there, and controlling it (an example would be continuing to figure out how to get the flag where you want it to go), will allow you to stay in the game and claim victory!

Gear

I used a Condor MOLLE Drop Leg Platform with a MOLLE 6 M4 Mag Pouch to carry the gear necessary for short, CQB games.  I also used my Condor Dump Pouch to hold my empty magazines.  My primary weapon was an ICS CXP16S (I used K120 Mid Caps and a Tenergy 9.6V Nunchuck Battery to fuel the BEAST MACHINE)!

Why Airsoft Companies Need Bloggers To Reach The Airsoft World

Share

Why Airsoft Companies Need Bloggers To Reach The Airsoft World | AirsoftWarrior.net

This post will be of interest to those of you that sell airsoft products, run an airsoft website, or would like to know what airsoft blogs have to offer to airsoft companies!

One of the biggest resources that airsoft companies underestimate is the airsoft blogging community.  If a company provides an excellent product and understands the blogging community, it can get its product in front of airsofters with minimal effort and maximum results! Here are some of the benefits of working with airsoft bloggers:

Better Product Placement:

One of the goals every airsoft company strives for is to make their products more visible to airsofters, whether that be through web searches, pictures, videos, or social media.  Bloggers enable companies to have a powerful tool for enhancing SEO (Search Engine Optimization) and expanding a customer base.  Even if the blogger has a small platform at the time, as the blog expands, so will the number of readers who see the product!

Make More Money With Less Effort:

Product reviews are a a great way for a company to spend a small amount of money and get big results.  For example,  let’s say a company sends a product that would cost $50 retail, but only costs $25 for the company to produce the item and ship it to the reviewer.  Even if just ONE product is sold because of the review, the company has already made money! It’s like having a massive marketing team, without paying all the salaries!

(Tip For Airsoft Companies: Bloggers like to review good products.  They like it even more when they can review them and make a reoccurring income on the side.  By creating an easy-to-use affiliate program, companies can encourage bloggers to remind their readers about the product and link to the company site more often!)

Build Trust:

All bloggers who are worth their stuff are honest and trustworthy.  They provide good information to their readers, who frequent their site because of this information.  Airsofters like to search websites, YouTube, and forums to glean information before buying a new piece of gear because they want multiple opinions and information.

So, imagine, while you search the web, you find your favorite airsofters talking about a product you want to buy, showing you how to use it, and giving you reasons to buy it from a certain company.  You’d be much more likely to buy the product and trust the site they recommend!

Reach A New Audience:

Every airsoft blogger understands and knows how to reach a unique audience.  By working with bloggers, companies are given unique access into the bloggers’ community and are able to reach people who would have never heard about them otherwise. Companies can also use blogs to focus on a specific group of airsofters who are more likely to purchase their product.

Build A Marketing Army:

Bloggers tend to be loyal to the companies that reach out to them and understand the unique benefits they offer.  I often recommended Action Fan’s products because they provided me with an excellent product for my first review.  I used it, it worked great, and I now recommend it to my readers and airsofters I play with.  My team alone bought enough Action Fan products to easily make the company a profit.  By having just a few bloggers on its airsoft marketing team, a company will be reaching airsofters at dozens of fields, interacting with an internet community in the tens of thousands, and will have its website and products prominently featured!

Advertising Options

Now that you understand why companies need bloggers, here are some of the ways companies can get their products promoted on blogs:

(Note:  These options are based upon the most common ways of advertising on blogs.  A company can often work with a blogger to customize advertising to best fit their needs!)

Ad Space:  This is one of the easiest ways to get a product promoted on a blog.  Simply pay for a certain number of months, send an email file with a correctly sized ad, and the blogger posts it in a prominent place on the site.  Readers can click on the ad to head to the company’s website and start browsing products right away!

Sponsored Posts/Videos:  This option allows a company to get its product in front of the entire blogger’s audience in a way that makes it more personal and easier to access.  The company sends the blogger the product they wants reviewed or mentioned, and the blogger will write about the product and/or produce a video about it, as well as mention it in a post with direct links to the product and website.  Giving away products in the sponsored post is a great way to increase the reach of a promotion and let the airsoft community have some fun too!

Social Media Sponsorships:  Social media is king in marketing.  The company that selects this option gets a series of mentions on the blogger’s popular social media platforms (like Facebook and Google Plus) with links and pictures of a product.

Event Sponsorships:  If the blogger attends airsoft events and games (and most do), a company can sponsor the blogger for the event!  The company will have an advertisement in every one of the blogger’s gameplay videos from the event and links to the blogger’s site in the videos and posts about the event.

(Tip For Airsoft Companies: Be sure to send the blogger some products and advertising materials to use at the event if allowed by the game hosts!)

Full Sponsorships:  With this high level of sponsorship, the company can expect to spend more but get bigger results.  With a full sponsorship, companies will give the blogger access to information on upcoming products to pass on to readers, send some of their best products to use and review, and send advertising materials for events.  In return, the blogger will be a full time advertiser of that company and will recommend products from the company on their website, social media, in ad space, and at events.

(Tip For Airsoft Companies: Remember to take care of bloggers when they encounter a problem and keep them up to date on company happenings for the best promotion results!)

I hope this post has given you insight into how the blogging community can help airsoft companies and their readers through sponsorship and advertising.  By having sponsored gear, bloggers are able to find the best products to show their readers and expand their readers’ knowledge while helping airsoft companies thrive!

Airsoft Discoveries: November 2015 | AirsoftWarrior.net

This is The Airsoft Warrior’s “Airsoft Discoveries”, where I write up a post about airsoft videos, news, tips, and much more I’ve discovered during the month to help you discover new things!  Here’s what I found this past November!

Gear:

Odin Innovations M12 Sidewinder Speedloader Release! – I reviewed the M12 prototype a few months ago.  This great speedloader by Odin Innovations allows you to fully load mid caps in a fraction of the time traditional speedloaders take!  I loaded a 120 round KWA K120 mid cap in 5.4 SECONDS!  Another bonus is that it fits in a double stack M4 magazine pouch for easy transport on the field!  No more excuses for those of you who use high caps because they’re “easier”! 😉

Websites:

Popular Airsoft 6th Player’s Choice Awards – It’s time to nominate the best airsoft gear, guns, and websites!  Nominations will be accepted till December 30th.  Be sure to fill in the “Best Airsoft Blog” section! 😉

AirsoftC3.com – This website allows you to find retailers, teams, and fields around the United States quickly and easily!  Now you can find new places to play at, and airsofters to meet, with the click of a button!  You can add your team or store HERE.

MilSim:

Operation: IRONHORSE – The Guardian Center will be hosting this American MilSim operation in Perry, GA in just a couple of months!  Guardian Centers are designed to help soldiers and emergency response personnel practice scenarios in a real world environment.  Looks like this AO will be a great place to test airsofters as well!

Bonus:

Taya Kyle Wins American Sniper Shootout – Although not airsoft-related, I found this to be a very interesting article.  Taya Kyle (wife of American Sniper, Chris Kyle) was able to make 100% of her shots during the competition using TrackingPoint weaponry.  The advance technology will allow our troops to fight enemies with minimal exposure of themselves and with maximum accuracy.  To find out more about TrackingPoint, go to their website HERE.
